2009 Best Hospitality/Casino AV Project

Before Veneklasen Associates designed the upgrades to Mohegan Sun's Casino of the Wind in Connecticut, techs had to hoof it among six amplifier rooms to troubleshoot problems. So from the project's beginning, it was decided head-end equipment would be upgraded to the latest MediaMatrix NION DSP, and the amp rooms would get centrally controllable QSC Basis systems connected via CobraNet.

Speakers had to be mounted 35 feet above the floor. Veneklasen engineered a randomized layout of EAW speakers, with Clock Audio C007 mics providing ambient noise sensing. Staff can now use the existing Wi-Fi network to control music zones from a tablet PC while walking the casino floor. Perhaps lost among the casino's 196 audio zones is a network of 25 high-definition LG plasmas displays, controlled using Extron IP Link devices.
