Intelix recently introduced the latest addition to its HDMI twisted-pair line, the DIGI-HD-4X4 matrix. It is reportedly the first product to merge 4x4 HDMI matrix switching with twisted-pair extension and HDshak processing.
"Intelix has an extensive history providing professional-grade HDMI solutions to the commercial and residential installation markets," said Steve Cohan, Intelix CEO, in a statement. "We have taken our customer's concerns to heart, researched the intricacies of HDMI technology, and developed affordable solutions that work."
The DIGI-HD-4X4 features four HDMI inputs, four HDMI outputs, and four twisted-pair extender outputs. Both HDMI and twisted-pair outputs are live simultaneously. When used in conjunction with a compatible Intelix twisted-pair receiver, the matrix extends output signals up to 300 feet over a single twisted-pair cable. Trademarked HDshak processing provides remote EDID storing and enhanced bandwidth limiting, allowing the installer to optionally disable high-bandwidth HDMI elements–such as deep color multichannel audio–to guarantee performance when using low-grade cables, according to the company.
The matrix supports 1080i and 1080p high-definition video, 3D, and HDCP content protection. All operations are controlled via a diagnostic front-panel interface or remotely via RS-232, IR, or Ethernet. The system also ships with a wireless remote control and includes a 19-inch rack-mount kit.
In addition, the DIGI-HD-4X4 has four pass-through IR channels that distribute remote IR commands from in-room controllers over the twisted-pair cable and out of the matrix, allowing control of remote sources from the destination. The IR channels follow the matrix switching.
