Gefen has begun shipping its GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 60 GHz extender, a sender/receiver system and the company's fourth wireless video product.
Gefen has begun shipping its GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 60 GHz extender, a sender/receiver system and the company's fourth wireless video product.
According to the company the GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 60 GHz extender uses multi-antenna technology from SiBeam to extend HDMI signals, supporting full HD resolutions at 1080p. This is Gefen's first product to feature uncompressed HD signals at the 3 GHz bandwidth, which suits the extender for gaming applications. Multichannel audio transmits alongside the video with support for many HDMI v1.3 features, the company says.
The GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 60 GHz extender transmits one-to-one HDMI signals up to 30 feet, suiting it for in-room applications. According to the company, the system may also appeal to integrators who want to avoid in-wall cable runs or need to complete a retrofit installation.
Gefen's extender comes with HDCP compliance, support for CEC protocols, an RS-232 port for control or Internet access to firmware updates, and an IR remote for power on/off control.
