Extron Electronics recently introduced the WallVault System family of centralized AV switching and control systems, and the Classroom A/V System Configurator, an online drag-and-drop utility that allows users to customize its PoleVault, WallVault, and VoiceLift systems.

Designed for use with wall-mounted, short-throw projectors and flat-panel displays, the WallVault Systems are economical classroom AV systems that use twisted-pair technology to transmit signals and include network connectivity for web-based asset management, monitoring, and control, according to the company. WallVault Systems are named for the WMK 100 Wall Mount Kit that securely mounts and conceals system components on the wall.

"Following on the success of Extron PoleVault Systems, we recognized the need for a system that supported wall-mounted short-throw projectors and flat-panel displays that are becoming more popular in classrooms," said Casey Hall, Extron vice president of sales and marketing for North America, in a statement. "WallVault Systems accomplish this by providing a complete AV switching, amplification, and control solution that securely mounts and conceals key components."

WallVault Systems include the necessary audio and video switching, audio amplification, system control, source connectivity, loudspeakers, mounting hardware, and cabling needed for a complete AV system, says the company. The systems do not include a video projector, screen, or flat-panel display, and sources.

The graphical user interface of the new Classroom A/V System Configurator allows users to change or add loudspeakers, change wallplates or AV inputs, specify mounting hardware options, and select component colors. The Configurator can also be used to print or save an equipment list and submit a request for a quote to Extron sales representatives.

"The online Classroom A/V System Configurator is a powerful tool for customizing PoleVault, WallVault, and VoiceLift systems," said Hall in a statement. "Once you configure a system for a classroom, it can easily be ordered using a single part number."

According to Extron, each classroom AV system includes more than 15 components. Ordered separately, each item would require listing a part number and price on the purchase order. However, when ordered with the Classroom A/V System Configurator, it automatically generates a single part number for each customized system, says the company.

The Classroom A/V System Configurator is available for free at www.extron.com/cc.
