The 8260A combines a coaxial driver (MDC) with a modern waveguide technology, the company's Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW). According to the company, the coaxial driver design provides accurate imaging and improved sound quality on the acoustical axis as well as the off-axis. A smooth frequency response helps clarify and define the inner details of the audio.

According to the company, the DCW is formed by blending the new MDC driver surface with the enclosure's front shape to provide accurate control of the loudspeaker's directivity. The midrange driver cone forms a smooth, continuous surface between the tweeter and the enclosure, preventing diffractions. The treble ad midrange drivers couple over their full operating bandwidth as a single point source.

As a part of the 8200 Series, the 8260A features Genelec's DSP signal processing responsible for all loudspeaker functions, such as the crossover filters, driver compensation response, driver position alignment, room response alignment, calibration- and equalization-related filters, and distance compensating levels/delays.

Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software allows the 8260A to be used with other 8200 Series DSP monitors as well as 7200 Series subwoofers in the same setup. Genelec AutoCal fully automated room calibration and sound system alignment method provides consistent and accurate frequency response for a multichannel audio system in widely varying room environments, says the company.
