X2O Media has updated its Xpresenter digital signage platform with new Microsoft Office add-ins for PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

The Xpresenter Office add-ins appear as custom toolbars directly inside the Office Ribbon, Microsoft's user interface that was first introduce with Office 2007. The integration is designed to allow Xpresenter users to publish content directly from one of the three available Office applications to display screens on an X2O network. The company expects the streamlined publishing workflow to save content managers time, and to reduce the need to learn new applications.

David Wilkins, X2O Media president and CEO, said in a statement that Microsoft Word is a platform everyone already knows and that integrating it with the Xpresenter platform will help make professional-quality digital signage and enterprise communications accessible to more people.

Xpresenter is an end-to-end platform designed to ease creating, managing, and distributing broadcast-quality digital signage content on networks of all sizes. The authoring module used allows Microsoft PowerPoint users to produce graphics that incorporate animations, smart objects, video clips, and real-time data sources without leaving the PowerPoint interface, says the company.
