According to the company, internal EDID management eliminates the need to reboot when switching between computers and restores the original resolution settings and desktop icons for each computer. This method is said to provide a smooth transition throughout the switching process, with no additional tweaking.

"This new switcher replaces two previous versions, each handling either single- or dual-link DVI," said Hagai Gefen, president and CEO of Gefen, in a statement. "With this new version, users have more options with their display, and a streamlined switching approach that saves time and increases productivity in the studio or work environment."

The switcher has cross-platform capability, and offers a plug-and-play method of system integration without networking, says the company. It also offers KVM (keyboard, video, and mouse) control of four computers from one workstation. Users choose their computer via the IR remote, front panel selector, or any RS-232 control device.

Two high-speed USB 2.0 outputs support any keyboard/mouse combination, the company says, while the one DVI output supports a single- or dual-link display. Stereo audio connections are switched for each computer, routing audio as well as video and control peripherals. Rack ears for mounting are included.
