From its Morrison Planetarium, to its Water Planet exhibit, to its Hearst Forum 3D Cinema, the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco represents one of the most impressive AV integrations of the past year. Since opening in September 2008, it has achieved LEED Platinum status and dazzled visitors from around the world.

Visual Acuity began working with the Academy in 2002 to develop the technologies required for the museum's various areas, implementing its new process of creating a "power budget" for the juice needed to cover installed systems. Some favorites: the six Projectiondesign F30 projectors that illuminate the planetarium dome; the 3M Cinema's Dolby 3D system with Barco DCI projector and Meyer Sound 7:1 audio system; and the Philips iColor LED cove lighting throughout the museum.
