SOUND FIELD SPEAKER

The new Extron FF 120T is a full-range, sound field speaker made for 70- or 100-volt systems. Featuring the company's Flat Field technology for reducing beams of mid and high frequencies under the speaker, the FF 120T offers a dispersion area of 170 degrees while Flat Field redirects radiated sound waves from the 3-inch driver, equalizing sound pressure levels across the listening area, according to the company. The sound field speaker is also UL 2043 plenum rated, with a 1- by 2- by 3.25-inch aluminized composite enclosure that drops into standard suspended ceilings. Price: $440 per pair. DIGITAL CONSOLE

The latest addition to Soundcraft's Si series is the Si1 digital live sound console. The new Si1 has a compact footprint of 47.2 inches wide, suiting it to space-restricted areas in venues such as small theaters and houses of worship, says the company. The console includes 32 mic inputs mapped on 16 faders, with four dedicated stereo line channels, four dedicated FX returns from the four stereo Lexicon FX processors, enabling it to mix up to 48 inputs. Eight balanced insert sends and returns are also provided, along with the familiar bus structure of the Si2 and Si3. Three card slots offer further expansion. Price: $21,500. MICROPHONE INTERFACE

Neumann's new DMI-8 is an eight-channel version of the company's DMI-2 digital microphone interface. In addition to more channels, the DMI-8 comes with new features, such as computer-free gain adjustment, multiunit cascading up to 128 channels, and industry-standard multichannel output formats, according to the company. The DMI-8 also delivers AES 42 to AES/EBU conversion, multimicrophone synchronization, automatic word clock or AES 11 synchronization, sample rate output from 44.1 to 192 kHz, and setting control and storage from a Mac or PC via RCS software. ARCHITECTURAL LOUDSPEAKERS

New from Bowers & Wilkins, the CI 600 series of architectural, residential loudspeakers features a new installation process called QuickDog. The self-locking QuickDog is designed to help installers secure the loudspeakers without tools. The CI 600 series' thin bezel strives for a less obtrusive profile, while Kevlar cones, nautilus swirl tweeters, larger voice coils and magnet, and cast driver baskets improve sound quality, according to the company. AMPLIFIER PROCESSOR

The Crown PIP-USP4 is a fourth-generation DSP-based programmable input processor for the company's CTs two-channel amplifiers. The module's OmnidriveHD processor offers 24-bit 192-kHz Cirrus Logic SHARC A/D and D/A converters plus 96-kHz processing. LevelMax peak, RMS, and transducer thermal voltage limiters produce improved sound and higher usable SPL, says the company.
