NSCA 2006 Product Preview

A sampling of products to be featured at NSCA Systems Integration Expo 2006, March 16-18, in Las Vegas.

Loudspeakers

Atlas Sound's AH6565CD and AH9040CD are large-format, constant directivity loudspeaker horns designed for use in large-venue applications. The AH6565CD (pictured here) offers a square coverage pattern (65 degrees horizontal by 65 degrees vertical) and is designed for down-firing applications, while the AH9040CD provides a shorter throw and a wider coverage pattern (90 degrees horizontal by 40 degrees vertical) for applications where speakers are needed in close proximity to a crowd. Both models handle 250 W with an 8-ohm nominal impedance. Price: N/A (both models). Availability: currently available (both models). For more information, see Atlas Sound at NSCA booth 1023, or contact the company at 800-876-3333 or at www.atlassound.com.

Motorized projector mounts

Draper has introduced the Phantom and Orbiter universal, above-ceiling, motorized projector mounts. The Phantom (pictured here) is mounted into the framework above the ceiling, and when activated, a trapdoor lowers the projector into the room using an actuator with preset limits. The Orbiter conceals the projector above the ceiling and rotates it into presentation position using a wireless transmitter. Price: N/A. Availability: currently available. For more information, see Draper at NSCA booth 3443, or contact the company at 765-987-7202 or at www.draperinc.com.

Omnidirectional microphones

DPA Microphones has introduced the 4090 and 4091 omnidirectional condenser, stand-mounted microphones. Designed for use with 48 V, phantom-powered systems, both models operate with voltages down to a minimum of 5 V without changes in performance, according to the company. The 4090 features a 23 dBA noise floor, 20 mV/Pa sensitivity, and a 134 dB peak SPL. The 4091 offers a 26 dBA noise floor, 6 mV/Pa sensitivity, and a 144 dB speak SPL. Price: N/A (both models). Availability: currently available (both models). For more information, see DPA Microphones at 3319, or contact the company at 303-485-1025 or at www.dpamicrophones.com.

Flat-panel wall mount accessory

Chief Manufacturing's PAC-500 large in-wall, swing arm mount accessory is designed to flush-mount flat-panel TVs that measure 37 to 65 inches diagonal and weigh up to 200 pounds. The accessory's in-wall structure is mounted directly between studs surrounding the mount, so the company's PNR and PWR swing arm mounts can remain hidden until angled or pulled out. The PAC-500 is made of steel, and measures 30 inches wide by 20 inches high. Price: N/A. Availability: currently available. For more information, see Chief Manufacturing at NSCA booth 2941, or contact the company at 800-582-6480 or at www.chiefmfg.com.

EtherSound interfaces

Targeted for use in installed sound and live touring applications, Digigram's ES881, ES1241, and ES16161 rack-mount AES/EBU-to-EtherSound interfaces convert digital audio sources to the EtherSound network. The ES881 offers four stereo AES/EBU inputs and outputs and D-sub connectors. The ES1241 features two stereo AES/EBU inputs, six stereo AES/EBU outputs, and XLR connectors on the digital audio inputs and outputs. The ES16161 includes eight stereo AES/EBU inputs and outputs and XLR connectors on the digital audio inputs and outputs. All models offer sample rate converters on each input, as well as a world clock input and output. Price: N/A (all models). Availability: currently available (all models). For more information, see Digigram at NSCA booth 1700, or contact the company at 703-875-9100 or at www.digigram.com.
