Media entertainment players

Targeted for use in public display applications, the CodexNovus HDCodex DML-250 (250 GB hard drive) and DML-1000 (1 TB hard drive, pictured here) media entertainment players enable users to play back interactive multimedia presentations combining video, audio, pictures, and graphics. The units support 480p, 720p, and 1080p video modes, as well as MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (including .TS), MPEG-4 (including FFMPEG), XVID, LIBAVC, and DIVX video codecs. RF student response system

GTCO CalComp has released the InterWrite PRS RF student response system, which consists of a receiver and up to 2,000 handheld transmitters. The RF system features a two-line LCD display, which allows students to see their answers and receive confirmation of transmission. The system supports multiple question types, including numeric, multiple choice, and true/false. Price: $2,400 (including receiver, 32 transmitter units, and InterWrite PRS software). Flat-panel displays

Sony has released the 32-inch FWD-32LX1R and 40-inch FWD-40LX1 (pictured here) flat-panel LCD displays, and the 50-inch FWD-50PX2 plasma display. Targeted for use in retail and hospitality applications, both LCD displays offer a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, the company's WEGA Engine digital processing system, and S-LCD panels designed for improved black level reproduction and gradation, according to the company. Targeted for use in office lobbies or reception areas, the plasma display features a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, DVI-HDCP, and dual option slots. Video mixer/seamless switcher

Analog Way's DiVentiX is a computer and video high-resolution mixer/seamless switcher targeted for use in large-venue presentations and rental & staging applications. The unit includes two SDI inputs, two HD-SDI inputs and two HD-SDI outputs, and one DVI input and two DVI outputs. DiVentiX offers three operation modes: Mixer Mode scales all sources and performs seamless switching transitions between any two inputs; Edge Blending Mode drives two video projectors for horizontal or vertical edge blending; and Native Matrix Mode switches any of the eight inputs to any of the two outputs.
