Parasound has introduced the model 7100 surround sound processor to its NewClassic line. The processor is THX- and Ultra2-certified. It enables users to switch up to 10 audio and video sources with six analog inputs, four coaxial and four optical digital audio inputs, and a 7.1-channel analog input, including bass management. For video, the unit offers six composite, four S-video, and three component inputs, which are all upconverted to the component output. The unit's two-way RS232 port for connection with touchpanel controls provides integration and control. Price: $3,000. Availability: currently available. Ovation's OpticONE tristimulus color analyzer uses software and sensor technology to measure, analyze, and calibrate the color of video displays. The OpticONE probe detects between six and seven samples of light per second and includes more than 50 offset files from projection screen manufacturers.
