InfoComm 2006 Product Preview

A sampling of products to be featured at InfoComm 2006, June 7-9 in Orlando.

Image display processor

The SuperView 4000-4/4 and SuperView 4000-6/6 multiple image display processors from RGB Spectrum are targeted for use in applications that display multiple images using a single monitor or projector. The SuperView 4000-4/4 simultaneously displays up to four computer signals and four video signals from 16 switched outputs, while the SuperView 4000-6/6 simultaneously displays up to six computer signals and six video signals from 24 switched inputs. Both models support signal sources including high-resolution RGB, DVI, HDTV, 1080i/720p, S-video, component, and composite NTSC/PAL. The processors enable users to independently position and size all display windows. Price: $13,999 (4000-4/4); $19,995 (4000-6/6). Availability: N/A (both models). Digital system processor

Targeted for use in integration and touring applications, Sabine's NAV3600-EN, NAV4800-EN, and NAV8800-EN Ethernet-compatible digital system processors function as a matrix mixer, loudspeaker processor, and signal router. The processors feature the company's FBX feedback eliminator and gain management technologies. All models also include 32-bit (40-bit extended) floating-point processors and 24-bit digital converters. The NAV3600-EN has three inputs and six outputs; the NAV4800-EN has four inputs and eight outputs; and the NAV8800-EN (pictured here) has eight inputs and eight outputs. Plasma display

LG Electronics' 71-inch MW-71PY10 plasma display has 1920x1080p resolution, a 1,200:1 contrast ratio, and 800 cd/m2 brightness. The display includes HDMI and DVI inputs with HDCP for digital connections, as well as RGB, component, composite, and S-video inputs. The unit offers picture-in-picture, split-zoom, and twin-picture options, which enable users to simultaneously move, resize, swap, and view up to nine windows. The MW-71PY10 features LG's XD engine technology, which improves brightness, detail, color, and noise reduction, according to the company. Price: $70,000. Availability: currently available. Powered loudspeaker

The Powered Micro Spot self-contained powered loudspeaker from Galaxy Audio features a wall/ceiling-mount bracket for fixed installation applications and a microphone stand-mount bracket for portable use. The speaker includes a 30 W amplifier with XLR and 1/4-inch balanced inputs. The unit offers a universal power supply and a 12 VDC power input. All power and audio inputs are located on the back panel, while volume controls are located on the front panel. Price: $319.99. Availability: currently available. Curvilinear loudspeaker

The M'elodie curvilinear array powered loudspeaker from Meyer Sound is designed for fixed installations in small-sized theaters, ballrooms, and nightclubs. The loudspeaker provides 100 degrees of horizontal coverage, and produces a maximum peak output level of up to 131 dB SPL. The unit has a 70 Hz to 18 kHz operating frequency range. It includes an onboard, three-channel Class AB/H amplifier, which is rated at 1,200 W total burst output (2,400 W peak). The rear link of the loudspeaker's rigging enables settings for 12 different angles ranging from 0 to 11 degrees. Up to 16 models can be flown in a single array at a 7:1 safety ratio. Price: $6,800. Videoconferencing solution

Targeted for mobile videoconferencing and presentation applications, Draper's SMS Mobile Videoconferencing Unit enables users to mount two plasma displays side by side. The solution, which supports a total weight of up to 220 pounds, includes five VESA standard mounting hole patterns and two universal brackets. The unit is available with optional shelves for component video equipment. Price: $2,295. Availability: currently available. Digital audio mixing system

Designed as a compact, portable solution for live sound venues, Studer's Vista 5 digital audio mixing system includes a 32-fader deck with 20 channel strips. The system includes the company's Vistonics technology-based control screen, which enables users to simultaneously monitor up to 52 outputs. A total of up to 240 channels can be accessed for customized screen layout. The unit, which is HiQnet-compatible, offers stereo, LCR, LCRS, and 5.1 surround output formats. The Vista 5's SCore Live DSP engine occupies six rack spaces. Price: $120,000 to $150,000, depending on configuration. Availability: currently available. Stage monitor

JBL has introduced the VRX915M two-way, 15-inch stage monitor, which is targeted for use in live performance, corporate staging, and sound rental applications. The monitor includes a JBL 2265H Differential Drive woofer, which handles 800 W continuous power, and a 4-inch voice coil compression driver coupled to a 50-degree by 90-degree aluminum horn. The unit can operate in bi-amp or full-range modes selected via a high-current switch mounted alongside the monitor's NL4 input connector. Price: N/A. Availability: currently available. Wireless loudspeaker

Azden's APS 25b is a battery-powered wireless loudspeaker designed for mobile applications. The loudspeaker offers three options for its two wireless microphone receiver module inputs: VHF (30 channels), UHF (63 switchable channels), and Infrared (two modular wireless microphone inputs). It also includes a wired microphone input and a wired line output for audio sources. For power considerations, the unit offers AC power and a rechargeable battery that enables 6 to 8 hours of operation, according to the company. The APS 25b is available with a wall-mount bracket and can also be vertically or horizontally stand-mounted. Price: starts at $250, depending on configuration. Availability: currently available. In-ceiling loudspeakers

Tannoy's CMS 501DC and CMS 601DC in-ceiling loudspeakers include the company's Inductive Coupling Technology which, according to the company, is a true point source, phase coherent design for improved intelligibility. The 5-inch CMS 501DC (pictured here) is fitted with a 30 W transformer that can be tapped at 30, 15, 7.5, and 3.75 W tapping for 70.7 V line systems. The 6.5-inch CMS 601DC has a 60 W transformer that can be tapped at 60, 30, 15, and 7.5 W. Price: N/A (both models). Availability: currently available (both models).
