Another organization, the American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) Medical Devices Standards Board addresses issues related to national standards development efforts, as well as U.S. involvement in the international and regional standards efforts in the technical area of medical devices. Currently, the committee is in maintenance mode, monitoring medical device standardization activities in Europe.
International products may also be listed as UL- and IEC-60601.1-compliant according to the European Union Medical Device Directive.
