President of National Council of Acoustical Consultants Elected

The National Council of Acoustical Consultants elected Russ Berger as its own next president.

The National Council of Acoustical Consultants (NCAC) elected Russ Berger, president of Russ Berger Design Group, as its own next president. Berger's duties will include supervising all council affairs and serving as an ambassador for the consulting profession.

"It is an honor to be selected by my peers to help bring to light the importance of acoustics in everyday living," said Berger in a statement. "NCAC member firms are working hard to find better ways of communicating solutions that serve society by controlling and managing noise, vibration, and the acoustical environment."

The NCAC is an international organization that supports the acoustical profession and promotes the applied science of acoustics that deals with issues in real-world settings. It develops membership growth through peer interaction and by positioning itself as a resource to the public to help match the appropriate consultant to each project. Membership requires that the firm principals who practice acoustical consulting be full member of either the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) or the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE). Other membership criteria include references from professional peers, demonstrated experience, and adherence to a strong canon of ethics supporting the highest standards of business practice, technical consulting, and client service.

"Russ is a very active participant within NCAC and the industry as a whole-so taking on a leadership role is a great fit for him," said Jackie Williams, executive director NCAC. "With his extensive knowledge base, along with his commitment to education, we're excited to have him help to further the message of NCAC over the next two years."

One of Berger's priorities will be educating those new to the industry. "I am particularly excited about building on the excellent relationship NCAC member firms enjoy with higher education, and expanding our commitment to supporting meaningful academic programs in acoustics, architecture, engineering, and design," he said. Berger displays his commitment through his relationships with top university communities and board positions at higher education institutions, and his participation in speaking engagements for schools and professional organizations.

Berger has more than 30 years of experience in the acoustical industry. His designs include Whitney Houston's personal studio, NFL Films and NFL Network, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and Sony Music NY. He also developed some of the first LEED-certified studio spaces for Circle R Media, Sweetwater Studios, and the University of Las Vegas.
