Acentech, a multidisciplinary acoustics, audiovisual systems design, and vibration consulting firm, appointed new staff and made promotions in its Cambridge, Mass., headquarters.

Scott Jordan joins Acentech as a Consultant I in the Audiovisual Systems Design group led by Richard Closs. Consulting on sound and AV systems design in his new position, Jordan's strengths include system design, computer modeling, system commissioning, and customer support.

Before coming to Acentech, Jordan worked as an application support group specialist for Eastern Acoustic Works, and as a professional audio engineer for several New England-based production companies. At Acentech, he is involved with a wide range of projects, assisting other members of the Systems Design group as well as working in EASE acoustics software to create models for colleagues in Acentech's Architectural Acoustics and Noise and Vibration groups.

Dr. Gladys Unger was promoted from product noise reduction and sound quality consultant in Acentech's R.H. Lyon Division of the Noise and Vibration group to the position of Senior Consultant I, and will report to Jeffrey Zapfe, director of the Noise and Vibration group. Unger has more than 10 years of experience in acoustics and vibration, with much of it involving product noise analysis, sound quality studies, and machinery diagnostics. Her work involves testing and measurement of acoustical signals, vibration, pressure fluctuations, and those quantities related to fluctuating forces within the machinery under study. Unger is responsible for creating prototypes and assembling diagnostic systems. Unger is a program committee member of the Greater Boston Chapter of the Acoustical Society of America and an associate member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering.

Ioana Pieleanu and Jonah Sacks were promoted to Consultant II, reporting to Jeffrey Fullerton, director of Acentech's Architectural Acoustics and Mechanical Systems group. Both have used their modeling skills, musical experience, and personal acoustical insights to enhance services for their clients.

Pieleanu's acoustics experience includes room acoustics, sound isolation, and mechanical systems noise and vibration control. She consults on a variety of projects, using classical acoustics concepts and methods combined with the latest computer modeling technology or auralization. Sacks consults on architectural acoustics and mechanical systems noise control projects, which recently included performance acoustics in churches, auditoriums, and outdoor performance spaces, as well as sound isolation and room acoustics in office and residential buildings.

Ben Markham, having returned from educational sabbatical, has been promoted to Senior Consultant I and continues to provide leadership of his projects and great insight on acoustical modeling as a result of his recent studies for a Master of Science degree. Markham is an acoustician involved in a variety of projects that concern performance spaces and other commercial, residential, and industrial facilities.

Finally, Thomas McGraw was promoted to Senior Consultant II. He consults on a diverse range of building types, including auditoriums, media production and projection facilities, college and university facilities, K-12 schools, houses of worship, civic centers, medical facilities, headquarters and office buildings, and residential structures.
