In churches today, there is an ongoing need to control the volume of an acoustic drum kit, which in turn necessitates an electronic set to be considered. One of the main concerns of most drummers was the ability to obtain a "real feel" out of electronic drums, as many utilize a mesh or rubber playing surface. In an attempt to satisfy the drummer and the sound engineer, R.E.T. Percussion first created the Natural Series custom shop electronic drum kits in 2000. Using real drumheads with a 13in. playing surface, the R.E.T. NS2 triggering system truly gives the same feel as an acoustic kit, but with the sounds and benefits of an electronic kit. R.E.T. uses a unique muffling system that cuts stick noise levels by 60 decibels and gives the drummer more natural dynamics and stick bounce. Smartrigger offers electronic cymbals featuring quiet brass-alloy playing surfaces, authentic cymbal playability, feel, swing, and responsiveness, along with superior triggering.
