SUBWOOFER

WorxAudio Technologies' TL.118SS is ideal for live concert reproduction, near-field applications, high-energy clubs and discotheques, houses of worship, theme park effects, and theaters. Available in powered and non-powered versions, the sub bass system features the TL.1801SS 18in. low-frequency transducer for maximum output with minimal distortion. The subwoofer is extensively braced for high cabinet rigidity, using the direct-radiating 18in., 2000W cone driver in a tuned enclosure of tour-tested, 21-ply Baltic birch.

CD-R/RW RECORDER

Marantz's CDR300 merges the standalone portable functionality of a professional tape recorder with the capability to directly record live spoken word to blank CD-R/RW media for playback in any standard CD player. The CDR300 also features the Minute Track mode for easy navigation during playback and a built-in sample rate converter to create and display CD text.

PORTABLE RECORDER

Marantz's PMD670 is a professional solid-state portable recorder featuring non-stop record with seven hours of battery life, a menu-driven remote operation, and an EDL marking system for creating new files on the fly during recording for easy file selection during playback. The recorder allows users to record directly to Compact Flash cards and is compatible with MP3, MP2, WAV, and BWF formats.

STAGE MONITOR

Martin Audio's LE2100 three-way biamp stage monitor is designed for large-stage applications where maximum SPLs are required. The high-power differential dispersion monitor features twin 12in. low-frequency drivers, a 6.5in. midrange device, and a 1in. exit compression driver mounted on a differential dispersion horn. Differential dispersion technology increases the area over which a constant SPL and consistent frequency response are maintained at ear height, enabling the artist to move around more freely. The LE2100 is best used with the DX1 controller to provide crossover, limiting, and EQ functions.

AMPLIFIERS

Housed in black, powder-coated enclosures measuring only 1.2"×3.25"×5.1", Calypso Control Systems' CA-500 and CA-1000 miniature amplifiers each offer 32W of power for near-professional audio quality levels. Ideally suited for small-room applications, the mini-amps can be controlled via both IR and serial commands. The CA-500 is outfitted with a single balanced stereo input and performs with a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 85dB. Incorporating the same internal amplifier circuitry as the CA-500, the CA-1000 comes with an expanded feature set based around four discrete inputs, including a single balanced/unbalanced stereo input, a pair of stereo unbalanced inputs, and one mono balanced/unbalanced input.

EXPANSION CARD

Altinex's MT107-203 expansion card uses eight balanced-audio inputs to reduce and/or eliminate noise. Up to seven of the cards may be connected to the MT107-104 64×64 matrix engine. Volume control and mute capability may be applied to any individual input and are software-controlled for flexibility. Signal-detection circuitry allows the user to determine the presence of an input signal on any channel.

MICROPHONE

Audio-Technica's new Artist series includes the ATM710 — a vocal condenser microphone tailored for exacting detail and high-fidelity vocal reproduction. The microphone is equipped with an integral 80Hz high-pass filter for easy switching from a flat frequency response to a low-end roll-off position that reduces the microphone's sensitivity to popping in close vocal use. The ATM710 is also equipped with a switchable 10dB pad that lowers the microphone's sensitivity, providing higher SPL capability.

LOUDSPEAKER

Featuring a 12in., 400W woofer and a 3in. diaphragm with a 160W large-format, high-frequency compression driver, WorxAudio Technologies' UltraMax M1-P high-power speaker system and stage monitor is an ultra-compact system that is equally adept at general SR applications. The system's enclosure employs equal angles for floor positioning on the enclosures — enabling them to be used as stereo pairs, a trait uncommon in floor monitor designs. Power for the UltraMax M1-P is provided by the PMD-1 digital power amp, which features 500W of power to the low-frequency driver and 250W to the high-frequency section.

AMPLIFIER

JamTech's JM2020 sub-ranging pulse width modulation (PWM) digital audio amplifier delivers 16-bit audio quality with a 98dB range of linearity, enabling consumer audio equipment to achieve true-fidelity sound even at low-signal levels. Its direct digital, open-loop scheme avoids nonlinearity and does not use complex delta-sigma modulation, linearizing feedback loops, DSP error correction, or predictive error-compensating circuitry, resulting in a dynamically responsive, cost-effective digital amplifier capable of faithfully reproducing even the smallest audio signals.
