The release of this three-console series draws heavily on relationships with Rupert Neve, Audinate, and Steinberg. The EQ and effects build on work begun with Rupert Neve in 2010 to develop devices based on Yamaha’s VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling); Steinberg’s Nuendo Live is neatly integrated. But the CL series made this year’s list as much for the integration of an Audinate Dante module directly into the consoles. This is a new level of commitment to Dante networking and further evidence of just how crucial networking in general—as well as data sharing and iPad wireless control—is to workflow.
