The PD-915 series of rackmount power distribution units from Middle Atlantic Products provides eight rear-panel AC outlets and one front outlet. Either two or six of the rear AC outlets may be switched by remote contact closure, depending on the model. The PD-915R-X can use an existing control system or contact closures for AC control, and it offers two-stage surge suppression with notification. The contact closure configuration may be set for maintained or momentary, normally open or closed. The front panel includes LED power indicators and an illuminated power switch.
For protection and smooth operation of high-end home theater AV systems, Monster Cable markets the Monster Signature Series AVS 2000 Voltage Stabilizer with six rear-panel AC outlets, four of which are switched. The outlets may be programmed to be switched on and off in a sequence according the delay times that have been set on the rear-panel switches. The unit stabilizes voltage fluctuations and has a 15-amp circuit breaker. On the front panel are digital input/output voltage meter, voltage correction meter, current usage meter, and indicators for ground OK, surge protection, line and neutral OK, normal/abnormal voltage, and switched outlet ON; there is a remote DC control terminal.
The CPD-1006L conditioned power distribution unit from Nady Systems is a 1RU module for powering a stack of rackmounted mobile or installed gear. There are eight rear-mounted RFI/EMI filtered AC outlets provided along with two unfiltered outlets on the front panel. The outlets are turned on and off in a six-step delay sequence, and the front panel features a digital voltage meter. The unit includes a 15-amp circuit breaker on the front and a retractable rotating six-LED lamp with a high/off/low switch. Also on the front display are six LEDs to indicate the power on/off sequence.
One of the many power devices offered by Panamax for the home theater market is the M5400-PM with line filtration and voltage regulation. On the front panel the unit has dual digital meters for volts in and out along with an indicator for power sequencing of the five rear-mounted AC outlet banks. These include two high current outlets. Other features include a USB charging port, a gaming LAN port, and a 12V trigger port for external equipment to use in remotely activating the switched outlets. The unit senses incoming voltage levels; when these go outside the predetermined safe envelope, the unit shuts off power to connected devices until voltage returns to the normal range.
The PPC 9000 power conditioner from Phonic is a 1RU model with four pairs of switched rear-mounted AC outlets and one unswitched outlet on the front. Also on the front panel is a 20-segment voltage LED meter and two swiveling light fixtures with a dimmer switch. The unit provides EMI/RFI filtering and triple-mode Varistor surge and spike protection. The PPC 9000 has a maximum surge current rating of 6500 amps and a response time of 1 nanosecond.
For high-end home theater systems, the Perfect Wave PowerPlant 10 AC regenerator, sometime more simply known as the P10, is the solution for up to 1500VA of regulated power. PS Audio designed this model to be stackable or mounted on a special rackmounting shelf (RSH4A3R) available from the company. The chasses includes five banks of dual AC outlets, three coaxial in/outs for protection of cable TV and other video devices along with an SD card port, Ethernet port, and a DC trigger port for external device activation of the outlets. The PC10 accepts local power, converts it to DC and regenerates regulated AC power to its outputs.
The iControl IP-addressable power conditioning management system from SurgeX allows Web-enabled power control and monitoring through custom power sequencing and automatic email notification. In a 1RU space, the iControl SX-1115iP includes eight individually controllable AC outlets and the internal web interface. The system provides common-mode and normal-mode impedance-tolerant EMI/RFI filtering, SureX ICE (Inrush Current Elimination), and COUVS (Catastrophic Over/Under Voltage Shutdown). It also has a self-test with a visual indicator and is controllable through Ethernet and RS-232.
Torus Power designed the CS 20 AVR to deliver voltage regulation over an input range of 85VAC to 135VAC and surge suppression to 6000V, 3000 amps with a clamping voltage of 2V above peak nominal voltage. The unit provides five pairs of AC outlets on the rear panel and can be remote controlled through Ethernet on its internal web interface and with RS-232 as well as on two 112VDC trigger ports. The front panel displays input and output voltage. The CS 20 AVR attenuates noise from 2kHz to 1Mhz and provides isolation with toroidal transformers.
The HTR22-3U pure sine wave power management system from Tripp Lite provides voltage regulation with an input range from 65 to 138VAC while converting the incoming AC to DC and reconverts the output to regulated and filtered AC. It adds a UPS with zero transfer time to battery. The unit has nine outlets in two switchable load banks that can be individually controlled via software interface to reboot selected equipment on demand or automatically shed less-significant loads to extend battery time. It is remote controllable on RS-232 and with the addition of the SNMPWEBCARD into the built-in accessory slot, Ethernet control and monitoring is installed. Drivers are available for Crestron, AMX, and Savant control systems.
