Kramer Electronics' new VP-724xl joins the VP-719xl and VP-720xl models in the new XL series of ProScale digital scaler/switchers.

Kramer Electronics, a worldwide supplier of audio, video, and computer graphics signal distribution, switching, and processing equipment for the broadcast, production, security, education, home theater, and pro AV presentation markets, has introduced the VP-724xl ProScale digital scaler/switcher, the most fully featured of Kramer’s XL Series of ProScale digital scaler/switchers.

The VP-724xl joins the previously introduced VP-719xl and VP-720xl models from the new XL series, which incorporates many exciting new improvements to the highly successful DS line of ProScale digital scaler/switchers. All three of the new XL models continue the affordable quality tradition that Kramer brought to this product category and are ideally suited to the house of worship, education, and presentation markets.

The VP-724xl has the same user-friendly improvements that were developed for the XL series directly from the feedback of actual users and resellers. It has two 15-pin HD output connectors to accommodate the use of both a main display and a local monitor, which most applications require. It also has user-definable aspect ratio capability, built-in 7W-per-channel audio amplifier and speaker output connectors, user-selectable blue or black video blanking and freeze buttons on the front panel, and a front-panel lock out button to prevent accidental changes to the desired operational settings.

The VP-724xl also features the XL series' improved front-panel design. The resolution button found on the DS version has been removed because most of the time, the user needs to set the resolution output just once. Removing the resolution button prevents any unwanted changes once the machine is properly set up. Also, the red lights found in the old DS model above the input selection buttons on the front panel have been removed. The buttons themselves now light up when they are selected. This results in a much cleaner and more attractive front-panel design.

The VP-724xl has three additional output resolutions not found in the VP-719xl and the VP-720xl: the HDTV resolutions 480p, 720p, and 1080i. The VP-724xl is also an eight-input model instead of a seven-input model, offering two 15-pin HD computer graphics inputs instead of one.

“We are very pleased to complete the XL series ProScale digital scaler/switcher line with the introduction of the most fully featured model, the VP-724xl,” states Chris Kopin, vice president of product development for Kramer. “This top-of-the-line model has all of the user-suggested improvements found throughout the XL line, and it has the additional benefit of processing three HDTV video output rates—480p, 720p, and 1080i—along with an extra 15-pin HD computer graphics video input.”

All the models in the XL series of the ProScale digital scaler/switchers have all the same great features found in the predecessor lineup of DS models. They are true multi-standard video-to-RGBHV scalers that use Kramer’s K-Storm scaling technology to convert video, S-Video (YC), component video, VGA through UXGA computer graphics video signals, and DVI signals to multiple user-selectable output pixel rates with extraordinary output image quality. They also have Kramer’s FTB (fade-thru-black) technology for glitch-free switching between inputs.

The Kramer VP-724xl is now in stock and is being introduced into the market at the same valued-oriented price as its DS version predecessor. The VP-724xl lists at $1,995.
