LCD and LED Monitors Tech Showcase

One of the fastest growing markets in commercial AV is undoubtedly flatpanel displays—specifically LCD and LED-based displays. The technology in these products has advanced tremendously in the last few years. We see leaps in screen size and drops in pricing regularly from all manufacturers. Along with the larger, less expensive screens, we also see image quality advancements quite routinely. LCD and LED displays are now becoming the go-to product for rooms of all size and use. While there are a number of offerings now available, the displays listed here feature the latest offerings from the leading manufacturers.
JVC has long been recognized for its quality broadcast monitors. The company’s newest model, the DT-V24G11Z, continues that tradition. The DT-V24G11Z is a 24in. LCD panel in a 1920x1200 native resolution. It provides a viewing angle of 178 degrees and features very minimal color variation from different viewing angles. It is 3G/dual-link ready and SMPTE 424M, 425M, and 372M compatible. It features a high-resolution waveform monitor and a vectorscope for checking and adjusting the image. It also contains a built-in digital closed-captioning decoder. Inputs include two HD/ SD SDI, RGB/component, and composite video, DVI-D (with HDCP), and RS-232C and RS-485 control ports. Audio inputs are also included and allow sources to be heard through built-in speakers. Free calibration software is available.
LG’s new 65VS10 is the latest large screen offering from a leader in commercial display manufacturing. It is a 1920x1080 native resolution, 65in. widescreen LCD display. It features high 700cd/m2 brightness, and a typical 5000:1 contrast ratio while providing a 178-degree viewing angle. The 65VS10 can be used in either portrait or landscape mode, and it features a Split Zoom mode for creation of up to a 5x5 videowall. It features RGB, HDMI, component, and composite video inputs with corresponding audio inputs. Powered speaker outputs offer 20W per channel. USB playback support is provided for convenient presentations or easy digital signage applications. The 65VS10 offers three levels of energy saving and is Energy Star-rated.
NEC’s new X462HB is the latest addition to its X series line of commercial displays. It is a 46in. 1080p resolution professional-grade display rated for 24/7 outdoor use. The display features a sealed design and advanced thermal protection. It uses a special polarizing film, which allows viewing through any type of polarized eyewear—a problem that plagues many outdoor displays. It features a brightness of 1200 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 3500:1, making it an ideal choice for outdoor digital signage or drive-thru menus. The X462HB offers DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI-D connectivity, and an expansion slot for future use. It provides network control for remote management, and it offers a 24/7 time-clock scheduler. Color calibration kits, speakers, single-board computers, tuner cards, an HDSDI card, and a DVI daisy-chain module are available options.
The new NEC MultiSync EA273WM represents the next generation in the company’s successful EA series of monitors. The new model is up to 30 percent thinner and 25 percent lighter than its predecessor and now features a height-adjustable stand. The 27in. 1080p native display is now LED backlit and offers up a power savings of up to 52 percent compared to some earlier EA series models. It features DisplayPort, HDMI, DVID, and VGA inputs; audio inputs; and integrated speakers.
