FLATPANELS

Incorporating progressive product specifications designed exclusively for home integrators, Planar Systems has released four 1080p full-HD resolution LCD flatpanel home theater displays. The 37in. PD370, the 42in. PD420, the 47in. PD470, and the 52in. PD520 (pictured) deliver dynamic contrast and brightness for clear, crisp pictures. Other features include front and rear IR windows, advanced video processing using Faroudja DCDi, multiple HDMI with HDCP encryption support, PiP and PbP support, and integrated SRS loudspeakers.

VIDEO-CONFERENCING SYSTEM

The new Polycom high-definition videoconferencing system, the HDX 8000, delivers UltimateHD technology to small- and medium-sized conferencing rooms. This rounds out a full line of the HDX platform, including the HDX 4000 series with HD desktop systems for executives, physicians, and small groups and the HDX 9000 series for large meeting rooms, classrooms, and integrated custom-room environments. Polycom's Lost Packet Recovery technology offers consistent quality for calls over the Internet and networks subject to frequent packet loss in videoconferencing.

PROJECTORS

Two new Reflection-series DLP home projectors offer the Runco CineWide 2.35:1 configuration. The RS-440 offers 720p DLP high-definition video, HDMI connectivity, and horizontal and vertical lens shift with long throw. A separate long-throw model, the RS-440LT, is also available. Runco's new RS-900 projector (pictured) is a single-chip SuperOnyx DLP system offering high-definition 1080p resolution and two lens options. Its connections include two HDMI inputs and RS-232 control.

The Christie Digital LX1500 projector merges XGA LCDs with a quad-lamp optical illumination system into a powerful 3LCD light engine. At 15,000 ANSI lumens, the projector incorporates inorganic LCD panels that deliver a 2000:1 contrast ratio.
