ViewCast, a global provider of high-quality audio and video communication products, announced the release of its new Niagara Pro streaming media encoder. The Niagara Pro allows users to encode video into multiple formats, resolutions, and bit rates, while offering simplified and efficient operation from a remote monitoring and management interface through Niagara SCX software and local controls through preprogrammed front-panel buttons.

Designed for professional studios, broadcasters, cable head-ends, ISPs, and enterprise IT professionals, the Niagara Pro is a rack-mountable, streaming media encoder. Featuring Digital SimulStream, which allows multiple streams from a single-channel input, the Niagara Pro encodes up to two digital or analog video signals into multiple formats, resolutions, and bit rates, and streams them live over an IP network.

From a networked laptop or PC, users can control multiple encoders using the Niagara SCX client software or SCX Web Interface Configuration tool. Users can create, start, stop, and monitor multiple encoding sessions from the same SCX software. This feature greatly improves efficiency and eliminates the need for multiple control interfaces to manage the encoding process for Windows Media, RealVideo, and MPEG.
