Tandberg announced the support of Codian and Sony products by the Tandberg Management Suite (TMS). In addition, the support of Polycom HDX systems is planned for the first half of 2008. With these new enhancements, customers with multivendor environments will be able to better manage their video networks.

“A true multivendor management system such as TMS will allow a system administrator to quickly and easily configure and manage large numbers of endpoints, regardless of manufacturer. This is key to widening the adoption of video,” says Ira Weinstein, senior analyst and partner of analyst firm Wainhouse Research.

A large number of enterprise videoconferencing deployments include video systems and/or infrastructure devices such as Multipoint Control Units, gateways, and gatekeepers from multiple vendors, which can present challenges for system managers. With TMS comes the ability to manage endpoints and devices from different manufacturers using a single management interface and platform, which decreases the burden on support staff and lowers the total cost of ownership for video networks.

“We are committed to a vendor agnostic platform and open standards”, says Håkon Dahle, Tandberg Chief Technologist. “TMS is the most advanced management and scheduling software for videoconferencing networks and allows an organization to fully utilize its video investment, no matter what videoconferencing device is being used.”

The TANDBERG Management Suite (TMS), which already supports a wide range of third-party products, will now support select Sony and Codian products in November 2007. Support for Polycom HDX products is planned for the first half of 2008.
