Demonstrating how Hitachi Software Engineering America’s StarBoard interactive communications software can complete an AV/IT boardroom installation and provide executives with an easy-to-use, feature-packed toolset to improve presentations, enhance collaboration, and better archive meeting notes, Arkansas-based integrator I-Tech AV has just completed the installation of a sophisticated boardroom for financial services company 700 Walton Street Project, which features Hitachi Software’s StarBoard T-Series display panel as it’s executive interface. The boardroom, with seating for twelve plus an executive lectern, is located at the company’s Dentonville, Ark., facility and features three 50in. plasma displays, Crestron AV system control, and other recording devices that record meetings and sync with the Hitachi Software StarBoard software to easily integrate and archive presentations and meeting video.
The Hitachi StarBoard T-Series panel is located at the executive lectern with the capability to run on one or all three of the LG displays. The system was designed, installed, and commissioned by Eddie Myers, president, I-Tech AV based in Searcy, Ark. In addition to a ClearOne teleconferencing system he installed, Meyers designed the system with built-in scalability to accommodate future VTC conferencing requirements.
According to Myers, the system is an unqualified success because it couples sophisticated features with usable benefits that end-users appreciate. “The room and the technology is in constant use for board meetings, conferences, training sessions, and collaboration groups,” Myers says. “This is because it’s not simply full of advanced technology but that the technology is useful, reliable, and easy to use. Case in point is the Hitachi StarBoard tablet and software that I’ve seen seasoned senior executives learn to use in just minutes.”
The StarBoard T-Series offers the functionality of the large-format electronic whiteboard in a convenient interactive LCD panel. Connected to a PC and a projector, the T-Series panel enables users to run and annotate any computer software application without loosing eye contact with the audience. The panel image, which remains clearly visible even in darkened environments, can be projected up to any size. The lightweight ergonomic T-Series features XGA (1024x768) resolution with superb color and contrast. A thin screen eliminates glare and parallax error, assuring effortless, accurate operation. Electromagnetic interactive technology delivers fast, responsive precision tracking, and calibrating the panel is simple and permanent.
A wireless programmable grip stylus supports complete mouse emulation, with left and right clicks and single-click transitions between standard PC operations (mouse mode) and screen annotation (pen mode). The T-Series panel includes an easily adjustable angle stand, VESA mounting adaptors and podium flush-mount bracket options, ergonometric stylus, USB connectors, and the complete StarBoard Software suite.
Myers also notes that Hitachi Software’s StarBoard line even supports his sales efforts: “When I show the Hitachi StarBoard T-Series panel and software to the clients, they quickly appreciate how it can serve as a familiar, intuitive interface to complex AV/IT systems. As such, StarBoard not just sells itself, but it also enables me to sell other components of the system.”
StarBoard software version 7.1 represents the latest technologies available for interactive presentations including deferred hand-writing recognition enabling users to change handwriting into text, as well as control the timing of when that change occurs. TWAIN Support feature allows user to import the image captures from the TWAIN device into the StarBoard Software. Also, MSI Installer provides the ability to deploy the software automatically from a network server. The software also includes Projector Control that allows user to control a Hitachi projector on a network. Hitachi StarBoard software version 7.1 for Microsoft Windows applications is available, and the company also offers StarBoard software LE version 2.1 for Mac applications.
In addition to its category-leading ease of use, Hitachi Software offers a complete audio and video interactive training CD for its Spanish-speaking users. The training CD is the ultimate source for Spanish speakers to master the fundamentals of using Hitachi StarBoard software via a user friendly, three-screen window format with an interactive index of relevant topics.
InfoComm attendees are encouraged to visit the Hitachi booth (#2533) to view demonstrations of the widescreen FX-Series Interactive Whiteboards, T-Series LCD displays, and the wireless, portable StarBoard BT-2G Bluetooth Freedom Tablet that complements other StarBoard systems by offering educators, trainers, and presenters a mobile alternative for system control. The company will also feature its comprehensive array of 3LCD projectors.
