Associations Focus: NSCA Helps Create a More Productive, Profitable Staff

NSCA's latest Market Intelligence Briefings (MIB) report, Recruit and Retain Quality Staff: Organizational Issues and Structure, highlights how employee training, staff involvement in organizational strategic planning, and participation in staff reviews can enhance your company's employee recruitment and retention efforts.
This latest report provides resources to assist in organizational development by comparing what other successful companies in the industry are doing to retain, develop, and recruit staff. Simple processes — such as the development of organizational charts, job descriptions, and employee reviews — can promote the strengths of your employees, overall value, and employee satisfaction.
“A good company can become great by using these strategies to find, develop, and retain talented and dedicated staff,” says Jodi Montgomery, NSCA senior director of member services. “These are processes that should be consistently evaluated in order to maintain a productive and qualified workforce.”
Additionally, the recruitment of quality employees is still a concern to employers. Even though some companies will consider outsourcing or freezing salaries temporarily, hiring qualified technicians, administrative positions, and managerial support is important. Websites, word of mouth, and local advertising are the highest-rated methods. Resources such as NSCA's online job board have also become a reliable method to find qualified, experienced staff.

SAVE MONEY, BOOST KNOWLEDGE
In an effort to help its members save money and ensure employees are properly trained, NSCA has removed its minimum cost requirement for corporate contractor members and their member branch offices that apply education credits toward NSCA University training.
Several levels of membership receive education credits that are good toward most NSCA University education and training courses online, regionally, at NSCA's Business & Leadership Conference, and during NSCA University at the annual InfoComm tradeshow. Previously, these credits could only be redeemed in $100 increments. Now you can apply them in any amount to cover up to 50 percent of the cost of NSCA University courses.
“NSCA is not only constantly looking for ways to help members save money, but also to encourage employee training and growth,” says Norah Hammond, NSCA senior director of professional development. “Now corporate contractor members can build their businesses with highly qualified employees and cut costs at the same time.”
Members are encouraged to contact NSCA for information on specific redemption amounts for NSCA University.
