According to a new report from industry analyst firm CIR, the transmission modules market (including transceivers, transponders, and related equipment) will reach $13.4 billion by 2012.
According to CIR, several factors are driving the transmission modules market.
“The network is becoming increasingly fiberized with widespread deployment of 10GigE, traditional copper infrastructure being abandoned in the data center with Fibre Channel (at 4Gbps and above) and parallel optics assuming a growing role and PON architecture at last bringing fiber to the home.”
