VBrick Systems launched the Promise initiative, a powerful digital video system that removes time and distance hurdles by providing college student-athletes with course lecture video and additional college resources virtually anywhere, anytime. The VBrick Promise program enables student-athletes to learn from their professors’ firsthand expertise by watching live and on-demand classes via iPods, laptops, and other mobile devices when travel and related athletic commitments prohibit attending class in person.

Higher education provides information in multiple formats—in-person lectures, independent study, etc.—to address multiple learning styles and promote active learning. This education model is significantly diminished when student-athletes are forced to forgo class time for athletics. VBrick adds important audio/visual teaching back into the education equation, enabling universities to fulfill their promises to provide student-athletes with the tools to succeed in the classroom and their careers.

The Promise combines VBrick’s market-leading digital video products with unique insight from renowned college basketball coach Mike Jarvis to provide universities with engaging visual communications applications that are reliable, scalable, and easy to use. Jarvis draws from more than 18 years as a successful Division I men’s college coach—and as a pragmatic parent and student-athlete mentor—to co-develop the Promise with VBrick.

“Every college has an obligation to provide its students with the tools to foster an active learning environment,” Mike Jarvis says. “The Promise’s innovative e-learning platform raises the bar for supporting student-athlete success in the classroom and beyond. Looking beyond applications for athletics, the Promise initiative is poised to fundamentally change higher education by fostering new levels of information sharing, collaboration, communications, and discovery.”

The Promise combines leading technology and a robust content library in an engaging, easy-to-use format. The Promise also includes Mike Jarvis’ “The Skills for Life” video curriculum for student-athletes that addresses special considerations, opportunities, and key life skills that prepare student-athletes for the future.

VBrick’s EtherneTV Media Distribution System underpins Promise capabilities to record, stream, and manage digital video. The Promise empowers universities to stream live lectures and campus events to students on campus and connected remotely. VBrick’s Promise also expands classroom education with on-demand access to DVD-quality digital video libraries and supports realtime tele-presence collaboration between sites. Further, universities can leverage Promise capabilities to stream webcasts globally or create secure content that is only available to specific teams, coaching staffs, or athletic department officials.
